Life Hacks - Survival Edition

Being Human is surviving, because Survival, is the key to our existence. Of Course, we dominant species have an extra edge over other creatures, and that edge is 'intelligence'. The definition of intelligence is, being able to do or act certain things differently using available resources. Our intellectual capability is being tested every day, in every way we can think of. Sometimes, we may get into situations where things need to be done differently, or in a convenient way, as there are thousands or ways to solve any problem. We just need to think! Some ideas just pop up in the correct situation whereas other times, we need to be well prepared to deal with the state.

Here are some Life Hacks that might come in handy:

  • Ever been in a situation where you can't find a clean water source? Do this:

Grab a piece of clean cloth and two containers (one containing dirty water and the other one empty),
roll the cloth and make a small rope appearance of it. Then, dip one end of the cloth in the filthy water and leave another end inside empty container. The water will slowly get absorbed, and filtered water will be extracted out. However, it will not purify the water as needed. So make sure to boil it.

  • Summer time and mosquitoes are irritating a lot?
Mosquitoes always find a way around you, whether you're in the woods, or in your room. To avoid them near you, you can light up a small fire and sprinkle some basil or toss some rosemary in it. The insects can't keep up with the smell and will leave you alone.

  • Outdoors for a picnic and need a microwave?

Take a box or a container, cut fold it. Wrap the top and the inside of it with aluminium foil. Now place your food in it and leave it in the sun for a while. Enjoy your solar powered meal!

  • Lost your way in the woods?
Get a sliver shaped metal, like a needle and rub it in your cloth for a few times. Then, place it in a leaf and float the leaf in water. It'll point you towards North. You'll get a clear idea of which direction to move.

  •   Lost your wallet?
Sorry, your fault. Just kidding! Always keep your money spreaded around your pockets and bags. In case you misplaced your money, you'll always have a backup.

These life hacks might or might not be everyday hacks, but being one step ahead is the motto to believe in. Live Smarter Everyday!
